Silver and Gold members earn less under Radisson Rewards. Previously Silver members bonus was 15% now only 10% and Gold member 35% and now 25%. There has been no change in Base and Platinum member earnings.

Other changes

Seems that now all members are eligible for two free bottles of water and Platinum members are eligible for breakfast buffet instead of continental breakfast anywhere else besides North America. Now, Platinum members only are eligible for Elite support line when previously this was also available for Silver and Gold members.

Quorvus Collection name has been retired and is now just called Radisson Collection. Some formerly Radisson Blu hotels in Europe has been moved under this brand.

Prizeotel budget brand has made an appearance under Radisson Rewards site but apparently you cannot earn any points at them (at least not for now).

Conclusion

The retirement of Carlson name was inevitable when the Carlson family got out of the hotel business altogether. The hotel group is now owned by the Chinese HNA Group that may complicate things in the medium/long run.

The HNA Group under mounting debt is trying to offload their hotel investments (they own NH Hotels, huge chunk of Hilton plus number of hotel properties). Wouldn’t be too surprised if Radisson Hotel Group would soon have a new owner.

Club Carlson had great promotions in early of this decade when they were kinda relaunching the loyalty program last time including great credit card offer. You could get enough points for a free night at their then top tier property and a silver status after just one stay. Those days are long gone and the program has been on hiatus for a while.

Let’s hope that some good promotions follow this Radisson Rewards relaunch and that they would firm the brand standards of many of their hotels. Radisson brand in many part of the worlds is simply tired (resembles Holiday Inn in my mind).
