Air France has been facing strikes this Spring on February 22, March 23 and 30. There are two strikes days this week on April 3 (read more here) and 7. Air France just released rebooking info (you can find it below) for the Saturday strike.
Now, a reader sent me a link to Le Figaro article that states that pilots have decided strike for two additional days next week on April 10 and 11.
You can access Air France’s page for strike information here.
Here’s an excerpt from Le Figaro (access the piece here):
In a statement, the three pilot unions (SNPL, Spaf, Alter) denounce “the obstinate refusal” of management to “take into consideration the least of (their) requests”. “We decided to continue the strike by asking two more days,” the 10 and 11 April, they add. They were joined by the whole of the inter-union, according to several of its members.
Employees demand a salary increase of 6%,that the company’s salary policy was insufficient, given the employees’ past efforts and the company’s good results in 2017. Management granted a general increase of 0.6% on 1 April and 0.4% on 1 October . She says she can not offer more, without weakening her growth
Here’s the rebooking info for April 7 strike:
AIR FRANCE STAFF CALL FOR STRIKE 07 APRIL 2018
Updated on 01 April 2018, 12:15 PM Paris local time
A new strike by several Air France staff unions is called for Saturday 07 April 2018. It remains too early to ascertain the potential outcome of the effects this strike might have on our flight schedule.
Please note that Air France flights operated by an aircraft other than that of Air France or Joon will not be affected by this strike (HOP!, KLM, Delta…).
Without waiting for its confirmation, we now offer rebooking options at no extra cost, no matter the fare.
Can I postpone my trip?
If you have a valid Air France ticket, issued on or before 01 April, for a flight operated by Air France or Joon on 07 April, you can:
– anticipate your trip from 04 or 06 April 2018
– postpone your trip between 08 and 11 April 2018.
Save time by changing your booking directly online*, in the “Your reservations” section of the website or in the mobile app. You can change your booking at no extra cost for the same travel cabin.
* This online modification is valid until 09 April included. Beyond this date, we recommend to contact your travel agent that can also be contacted at any time.
You may also choose to postpone your flight to sometime after 11 April 2018, change your country of destination or origin or cancel your trip. In these cases, we will provide you with a voucher that will be valid for 1 year and can be used on AIR FRANCE, KLM or HOP! flights. This voucher will be non-refundable.
I would be very hesitant to book anything on Air France until the issue with the pilots and unions have been resolved (if it ever will be). These strikes will always affect travel day before/after for long-haul flights due to equipment/crew rotations.
If you are scheduled to fly on April 7th or day before/after on Air France, you should consider taking advantage of the rebooking options offered.
Remember that Air France is required by the EC 261/2004 legislation to provide duty to care for stranded passengers (accommodation, meals and calls) and rebook them to final destination at their (passengers) earliest convenience even on other airlines such as Emirates, Qatar Airways, and British Airways to name some
