The U.S. Travel Association’s Daily Getaways are back again and this week there will be interesting offers for Hilton Honors, Wyndham Rewards, Omni Hotels & Hertz Rent A Car.
The schedule for this week is as follows:
- April 16th: Hilton Honors Points
- April 17th: Wyndham Rewards
- April 18th: MGM Hotels in Las Vegas
- April 19th: Hertz Rent a Car
- April 20th: Omni Hotels & Resorts
The Wyndham offer is for one night only so 15,000 points at $175 and the MGM offers are a complete joke, not worth thinking even once about so let’s focus on the other three.
Today (April 16th) the offer is for Hilton Honors (access here).
As usual you essentially purchase points and those will be deposited into your Hilton account within 3-4 weeks after the purchase. The price per Hilton Honors point is 0.5 US$ cents which can be ok for large points redemptions as aspirational properties such as Conrad Koh Samui or the Maldives.
It makes little to no sense to pay US$150 on 30,000 Hilton points because those properties that are available at 30k points can usually be had for even lower than that price per regular reservations. Exception: Properties that are 5-10,000 points per night if you find one where it’s worth staying (Hilton Garden Inn Bali at the airport, Doubletree Kuala Lumpur).
On Thursday there will be Hertz Rent a Car points on offer which can be really lucrative.
The points levels are advertised as AnyDay Awards but in a decade of using Hertz points I never ended up needing to redeem at those levels and was always able to get my rewards as Standard Awards which are half the points as quoted here. So for US$280 you’ll be able to get two weeks rental of a Standard Car in the U.S.(access the Hertz award chart here).
Rental cars rates can go through the roof and are notoriously expensive at certain locations so Hertz points are very valuable at times.
On Friday the 20th April there are various packages of Omni Hotels & Resorts available.
I have stayed at 2-3 Omni Hotels over the years and thought they were nice, however this offer is different from others as you purchase a certificate instead of points. Some of the destinations aren’t really inspiring on the first sight.
In my opinion the best package is the “Stay 2 Nights at Omni Hotels & Resorts for US$335) which includes cities such as:
- San Francisco
- San Diego
- Los Angeles
Scoring a night at $162.50 all in at such nice hotels is a great bargain and I actually might consider buying one of these packages this week.
Daily Getaways allow the public to buy points and gift cards for a decent price. The list of partners has always been pretty identical over the years and so I’d expect to see most of the partners from last year back in 2018.
I really like some of the offers this week and will likely purchase one Hertz and one Omni package, then wait for the Hyatt round to be active to add a few extra World of Hyatt Points to my account.
We will update members weekly about the upcoming U.S. Daily Getaway offers for as long as the campaign goes on.
