Singapore Airlines launched Scoot back in 2012 and the airline has operated mainly regional routes in Asia-Pacific. Scoot and Tiger (another SQ owned budget brand) merged their operations last year under the Scoot umbrella.
Now, Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer members can log in using their credentials on Scoot’s website to earn and redeem miles. Members earn 1 mile per 1 SGD charged on fares and select ancillary charges.
You can access Scoot’s page for KrisFlyer member’s here.
Here’s how valuable (not) KrisFlyer miles are when used towards Scoot flights:
You need 32445 miles to offset 234.15 USD in charges/fees. This values one KrisFlyer mile at 0.72 cents each (less than a cent).
You earn very few KrisFlyer miles for these Scoot flights (1 miles per 1 SGD excluding taxes) and values 1 KrisFlyer mile roughly at 1 cent (Singaporean not US) when redeeming towards Scoot flights.
This would mean that you perhaps get 1% of your money used for Scoot flights back if in turn use them for Scoot flights…. Doesn’t sound hell of a deal for me….
Always good to have more options to earn and redeem KrisFlyer miles, however.
