Three InterContinental hotels in Europe without Club lounges started to trial Club Life concept last year where club lounge type benefits would be provided at F&B outlets.
InterContinental hotels in Porto, Marseille and Amsterdam were offering this product and at least two of them have ended it. The latest one being Amstel in Amsterdam effective April 30, 2018.
You can access InterContinental’s website here.
Club Life experience has included:
- Afternoon Tea
- Happy Hour
Hotels have been selling Club-packages on their website and upselling this package to guests (both paid and award with a reduced rate to Ambassadors). Royal Ambassador members have been eligible for complimentary Club Life.
I only happened to find this out at the InterContinental Amstel this morning when I was checking in.
They were telling me about changes that had recently taken place (the previous day). When I pointed out to them that they still had the Club Benefits-leaflets on their desk, they promptly removed them.
I thought that I would get all these Club Life benefits like on my previous visits to this hotel. They provided me a complimentary breakfast when they saw that I was somewhat disappointed (got a great upgrade though).
The Club Life was good value for Royal Ambassador members especially at the Amstel where breakfast, afternoon tea and evening drinks for two can easily cost in excess of $200.
