The Most Expensive Minibar Item Ever?

When I was staying at the InterContinental Amstel in Amsterdam earlier this week, I fondly remembered the times when the entire minibar at his hotel was complimentary for Royal Ambassador members including the full-sized bottles.

The Most Expensive Minibar Item Ever

Had a nice upgrade to their Royal Suite (see the video below) and found what is the most expensive minibar item I have ever seen. Bottle of Louis XIII Cognac for 3500 euros!

You can access InterContinental Amstel’s website here.

Seems to be selling bit more than 2,000 euros if you are buying it from a wine merchant.

Here’s the video of the suite:

Conclusion

When I saw the price (and the suite), I thought that this would be the fastest way to hit the Royal Ambassador revenue requirement of roughly $10,000 in spend.

Can you imagine friend of family member opening the bottle and you then footing the bill? Seems that the case is closed and the front desk needs to open it probably to prevent these unfortunate situations.

Thought that this was great marketing for the cognac maker to have these placed at the very high end suites. Not sure if the hotel has paid anything before the bottle is actually is consumed.

InterContinental Amstel has at least had Dom Perignon themed suite.
