It’s Back: Caesars Total Rewards Match To Diamond Status From Competing Casino Tiers Until 31th December 2018 – Waives All Resort Fees!

Caesars Entertainment Gaming Program Total Rewards returned the status match to their very solid Diamond level from competing tiers of other gaming loyalty schemes until December 31st.

Besides the casino and possible upgrade benefits Total Rewards Diamond is a good amount of money when staying at the Casino Hotels because the status comes with waived resort fees.

The promotional website for the tier match as well as a pdf with the rules can be found here.

Present your valid , eligible VIP loyalty card from select competitors to any Total Rewards Center between February 1, 2018 – December 31, 2018, and we will upgrade you to Diamond status through January 31, 2019.

Resort Fees have taken Las Vegas and other gaming destinations like an epidemic and can reach close to US$40 per night which makes a waiver benefit really worthwhile after just a few nights.

This promotion obviously targets customers who already have top tier status with other gaming establishments such as MLife (MGM), Grazie Rewards (Venetian), Identity (Cosmopolitan) and others.

You can access the official Total Rewards website for the different status levels here.

There might be some of our readers who still have MLife Platinum through the MGM/Hyatt Partnership match which was possible until February last year (see my old article here). Those who have done this can now cross-match over to TR Diamond.

The process to get this done is easy as outlined in the document:

Benefits of Diamond Status include:

  • No resort fees
  • Access to Diamond Lounges where you can rest and relax with exclusive amenities FOR A FEE (paid in Reward Credits)
  • Priority lines at hotel check-in, restaurants, casino cashiers and the Total Rewards Centers
  • Turn Reward Credits® into free play at a preferred rate of $1 for every 175 Reward Credits ($5 increments, up to $500 each day)
  • 20% discount at casino gift shops
  • And more!

There is no official room upgrade benefit but I’ve gotten very nice rooms as TR Diamond in the past, even on some of the cheapest rates. Now that Diamond Lounge access will no longer be a comped part of that match, it isn’t nearly as valuable. You will need to use reward credits to pay your way into the lounge which has previously been complimentary.

For Las Vegas (Nevada) there are the following programs eligible for a match to Total Rewards Diamond:

There are also other Casino programs in different states eligible so if you’re a status customer with other casinos outside Nevada then you might want to have a look a well.

The validity of the status will last until January 31st 2019. There are promotional offers to extend the status for a limited amount of status credits earned in numerous ways such as gaming activity, spending money at hotel outlets and rooms etc.

Just because you hold a Total Rewards Diamond Card don’t expect to be treated like a king at the casino or property. Casino memberships rely to a very large part on the ratings of the player (cardholder) accomplished through gaming and of course the VIP’s are those people who gamble (and potentially lose) the most. Casinos then give out status cards such as this Diamond card to their good customers. The top of the line customers (high rollers or whales) often don’t even use such a card but are rated on a face basis and play in a different league altogether. However you’ll often find that casino employees will swipe your card and be confused when they can’t really see any gaming data after pulling up your profile, yet you hold the Diamond Card.

So yes, you will get the hard benefits as guaranteed by the program meaning waiver of resort fees and discounts here and there, maybe even an upgrade. But don’t expect free stuff being thrown at you or that you can trick casinos into thinking that you’re a high roller. These establishments are very good of keeping records and ‘comps’ as the complimentary items are called are reserved for real gamblers only.

Where to sign up?

You can sign up for Total Rewards here on their website but since this is a gaming related program you will need to present a valid form of I.D. at a Total Rewards Center where you will also receive your status match credentials.

Closest Total Rewards Centers located at Harrah’s Las Vegas, The Cromwell Las Vegas, The LINQ Las Vegas, Bally’s Las Vegas, Caesars Palace Las Vegas, Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino, Flamingo Las Vegas, Paris Las Vegas, Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino, Harrah’s Laughlin, Harrah’s Lake Tahoe, Harveys Lake Tahoe and Harrah’s Reno.

It’s a nice and easy way to try Total Rewards Diamond that comes with lounges (Caesars Palace having the nicest lounge in my opinion) and as I now mentioned several times the resort fee waiver. You now have to pay for the lounge access which requires reward credits in your account.

Unfortunately the SPG and Caesars Entertainment ‘crossover’ partnership ENDED 31 Dec 2016 which means you can no longer earn Starpoints and status credits at Caesars properties. However now they partner with WYNDHAM Rewards and you can match to Diamond Status there which is very useful.

I’m still MGM Mlife Noir and will request this match when I’m in Vegas at the end of this month to write a follow up article how it went.
