The Muslim Holy Month of Ramadan is about to begin and starts affecting Qatar Airways passengers on Wednesday or Thursday May 15/16 and ends on June 14, 2018.
Qatar’s lounges in Doha will become entirely DRY and many flights to/from Muslim countries where alcohol beverages would be otherwise served are not during this time.
You can access Qatar’s website here.
Alcohol will be available on other Qatar Airways flights but will be served from the galley in glasses and bottles won’t be visible to the passengers. Predeparture drinks may be available depending on the crew.
Ramadan always comes as a surprise to many non-Muslim premium passengers that fly on Qatar Airways and find the Doha transit experience drier than usually.
I have flown on Qatar during Ramadan, visited their lounges and even stayed in Doha. It was definitely quieter experience than usually.
It would be better for all if Qatar Airways would be more open about their beverage options during the Ramadan for many non-Muslim passengers especially now when most of the Gulf passengers are blocked from flying the airline.
Qatar is more conservative than United Arab Emirates that is the home for both Emirates and Etihad.
