Hertz Gold Plus Rewards Summer Promotion For Targeted Accounts: Up To 1,100 Gold Rewards Points (Two Free Rental Days)

Hertz Rent a Car emailed selected members with a new summer promotion that allows them to earn up to 1,100 Hertz Rewards bonus points until the end of June with just one single rental in the U.S. or Canada.

Only select Hertz Gold Plus Rewards® members are eligible for this offer and the invitation to register comes via email to the registered account.

Hertz has these type of promotions a few times a year though not as frequent as in previous years. The amounts of these points are quite substantial considering that 550 points equals one free rental day.

The registration goes through a personalized link in the invitation email so there is no landing page relation to this promotion.

Register to earn 550 bonus points on your next rental completed by 6/30/18.* Plus, earn an additional 550 points if that rental is from a non-airport location in Canada or the U.S. Free Days start at just 550 points, so you can keep the fun going all summer.

A non-airport location is a so called Hertz Local Edition (HLE) though it would be interesting to know if those rental stations at airport hotels count as such. Previously I have always picked up rentals at the Hertz HLE at the Hilton Los Angeles Airport but recently they added a $22.50 facility charge for that station which is even more than the $15 charged by the main LAX Airport location.

Hertz Gold Rewards points are an often underappreciated currency. I often see this when talking to friend who say ‘Ah, I just collect miles’ even on very expensive rentals where they get their flat 500 miles per rental or even less when collecting on a U.S. based frequent flier program (even worse: for those programs you’re actually being charged $0,75 per day ‘airline mileage fee’).

If one can manage to pick up a cheap rental at a local Hertz station and collect the 1,100 points in the process that’s a great deal considering these points can be used very flexible, even on dates when rates are extremely high. They just offset the base rental charges and subsequently only the taxes and facility charges remain.

This particular promotion is obviously limited but there are other ones that will come up over the year that are applicable to all members. I’ll keep an eye on it and post those offers once they pop up.

These are the Terms & Conditions of the promotion:

Only select Hertz Gold Plus Rewards® members are eligible for this offer. Residency in the U.S. or Canada is required. Upon successful registration, select members are eligible to earn a one-time bonus of 550 Hertz Gold Plus Rewards points with the first qualifying rental picked up at a point-participating airport location in the U.S. or Canada. If that rental is picked up at a non-airport location, an additional 550 points will be awarded for a maximum bonus of 1,100 points. Rental must be completed by 6/30/18.

Members must select to receive Hertz Gold Plus Rewards points on the reservation to qualify. The qualifying rental must be a minimum of one full-day, paid rental. Only a rental picked up after successful registration will qualify for this bonus through 6/30/18. Points will not be awarded on rentals accruing other frequent travel program points. It may take up to four weeks from the end of the promotion period before bonus points will be added to the member’s account. Hertz Gold Plus Rewards point redemptions exclude taxes, fees and options. Standard rental qualifications and return restrictions apply. Advance reservations required. Modifying your reservation may result in a change in your rate and/or invalidate this offer. This offer has no cash value and cannot be used with Pre-Pay Rates, Tour Rates, Insurance Replacement Rates or any other promotion other than your CDP number. The minimum age for this offer is 21 and age differential charges may apply. All Hertz Gold Plus Rewards rules apply.
