Extended: Lufthansa Lounges In Munich & Frankfurt Available To American Express Platinum Charge Card Holders (First Class Lounges For Centurion)

Since October last year American Express has partnered with Lufthansa at Munich (MUC) airport to allow Platinum and Centurion card holder to access the Lufthansa Lounges as part of their American Express Global Lounge Collection.

This partnership has now been extended and also expanded to Frankfurt Airport where Amex premium customers can now enjoy select Lufthansa facilities.

Usual access policy for said lounges is being Star Alliance Gold for the Senator Lounge or holding a Star Alliance airline First Class ticket. The Lufthansa First Class Lounge is only accessible to Lufthansa Miles&More HON Circle members as well as Lufthansa/Swiss First Class passengers (including connecting flights).

You can access details to the American Express Global Lounge Collection on their website here.

You will need to access your online account to select individual lounges as it depends on your membership status what’s being displayed.

Access is available for the following cards:

  • Personal Platinum Charge Card from American Express
  • American Express Business Platinum Charge Card from American Express Open
  • Personal Centurion Card from American Express

The partnership with Lufthansa was originally expiring today (May 31st, 2018) but has now been updated on the American Express website (access here) and extended until March 31st, 2019. Lounges in Frankfurt can now also be accessed.

As part of The American Express Global Lounge Collection, we invite Platinum Card and Centurion Members to enjoy access to select Lufthansa airport lounges in the satellite area of T2 in Munich Airport 6/1/18-5/31/19, and in Terminal 1 Concourse B of Frankfurt Airport 6/1/18-3/31/19.

Platinum Card Members may enjoy access to Lufthansa Business Lounges (regardless of ticket class) and Lufthansa Senator Lounges (when flying business class) in the Satellite area of T2 in Munich Airport, and T1 Concourse B in Frankfurt Airport

Centurion Members may enjoy access to Lufthansa First Class, Senator and Business lounges in the satellite area of T2 in Munich Airport, and T1 Concourse B in Frankfurt Airport, regardless of ticket class.

To enter, show your valid Platinum Card or Centurion Card, government issued photo I.D., and confirmed seat on a same day Lufthansa Group boarding pass.

Keep in mind that access to the Lufthansa Lounges is limited to Frankfurt / Munich and only the locations specified in the Terms and Conditions – not all Lufthansa Lounges at these airports!

Conclusion

It’s a big advantage for Amex premium customers to add additional lounges to their network even though the locations are limited (for now). So far there has only been clear communication to U.S. based card members but maybe one of our readers with foreign Amex cards can comment if they received similar information, especially the members in Germany.

These are the Terms & Conditions Amex has lined out:
