Two Iberia Emails: Congratulating For 90,000 Avios & Asking For Official Identification


Iberia Plus has now sent out two set of emails; one for those that got the bonus Avios credited to their accounts for the recent purchase promo and another for those that need to get their information confirmed first.

It is now soon two weeks since Iberia Plus run this great promo that allowed members to earn 9,000 bonus Avios per purchased ticket for up to ten tickets and no flying was required. You could imagine what happened when the cheapest Iberia tickets were less than $30!

The extra Avios collected through this promotion will be recorded in your standard balance and be subjected to special expiration date and terms and conditions, additional to those of the standard Iberia Plus Programme, except for the following:

1-These Avios cannot be transferred or combined with Avios from other programmes or accounts, and they will expire on December 1st 2018 if not used by that date. All Avios from this promotion not redeemed by then will be withdrawn from the customer’s account on December 1st 2018.

2-These Avios may be used via the Iberia Plus Programme from the moment they are awarded up until December 1st 2018.

3-Any purchases charged to Avios from this promotion (redemptions) may be exchanged and reissued, if applicable, up until December 1st 2018, as per the particular terms and conditions of the products purchased. Keep in mind that cancellation or refund requests made by the customer for tickets purchased during the promotion implies withdrawal or cancellation of the promotional Avios, regardless of the refund date.

4-The 9,000 extra Avios from this promotion have been awarded to all customers who used a valid Iberia Plus number when purchasing tickets that meet the campaign terms and conditions via Iberia systems.

The first bullet would indicate that transferring these Avios to BA Executive Club wouldn’t be an option. Unfortunately, I cannot test this because my accounts are not linked and email addresses used are different anyway (and thus never can be linked):

Thank you for your interest in the Iberia Plus programme.

It is a standard requirement of our programme to check the registration details for your Iberia Plus account. To help us do this, please email a copy of the official identity document you used for registration to The subject line of the email must include your Iberia Plus number in order for us to process it and you must send it to us by 31 July (GMT+2). If the documentation is not received before this date, we will be unable to register you for the Iberia Plus programme and you will not have access to any of the associated benefits.

If you took part in our recent 9,000 extra Avios promotion for the purchase of tickets at, please attach a copy of any tickets purchased during the period and send it to us by 31 July 2018 in order to collect your Avios.

Once we have verified your identification and proof of ticket purchase we will award the Avios due—as per the campaign terms and conditions—to your account.

Well. It is certainly NOT standard program requirements to check the registration details as Iberia has never done this with my accounts that I have had for few years.

The offer went surprisingly smooth considering the participation rate that must have been a surprise for Iberia Plus.

Let’s hope that they are encourage of this promotion and decide to run something similar in the future!
