SPG To Marriott Conversion On-going


Starwood’s website and app both went offline just before midnight on Friday and it won’t be before Monday before account combine functionality has been rolled out to all members.

The website and the app (both white label SPG versions of the current Marriott ones) should be working later today. SPG members need to update their Android and Apple apps.

Here’s an update that Marriott sent us on Friday:

With several billion pieces of guest data being transformed and migrated, this is one of the largest IT projects in the company’s history so we are being deliberate and systematic.

  • To ensure site stability, account combine functionality will be rolled out to members in batches through Monday.

  • As a result SPG.com and the corresponding mobile app will periodically have planned outages starting Friday 10pm ET. All other planned outages impacting Marriott.com and app, as we’ve stated in the past, will begin around 4am ET.

  • Throughout the weekend, when members log in to their accounts they will see all of their Marriott Rewards account activity, however only 2018 SPG activity. If members want to see their full 24-month SPG account activity, there will be a link on their profile popping up a lightbox with account statements.  See screenshot below.

  • Progress updates will be posted to www.status.marriott.com, throughout the weekend.

Let’s hope that the account integration goes smoothly this weekend. It would have been great night to stay at Starwood property and toast for the 800+ SPG nights I have had over the years (award nights didn’t used to count).

I will let the dust settle a bit and have my first combined program stay in about 10 days at the Le Meridien Cairo airport. Made the award booking in advance as this is one of those properties which price using points was going up a LOT today!
