TAP Air Portugal Victoria With New Miles And Upgrades Redemption Tables Effective September 3rd 2018

TAP Victoria will be launching their new miles and upgrades redemption tables on September 3rd which will be applicable to TAP operated flights from that day forward.

Additionally the program will offer an option that enables customers to pay for domestic tickets and taxes only using miles.

Taxes and airlines related fees are often the bulk of tickets within Europe or domestic flights and Lufthansa Miles&More has introduced this option (to pay taxes/fees with a bulk mileage amount) many years ago. In fact that feature is quite popular with members when it comes to redemptions.

You can access TAP Victoria’s Mileage Redemption page here.

The email they sent out this morning reads:

From September 3rd, TAP Victoria will be launching the new miles and upgrades redemption tables, which you can check here. Victoria Clients will also have access to a new offer that will enable them to pay for domestic fares and taxes only using miles.

With these changes we’d like to offer our clients more availability on TAP flights to all destinations.

The new award chart which will be valid effective September 2nd 2018 has already been published by TAP as well:

The premium on tickets paid fully with points is actually very little as can be seen from the published chart which attaches significant value to TAP miles.

Also the upgrade pricing to North- and South America with 40,000 Miles is very attractive but you have to process these upgrades in advance otherwise the Last Minute Upgrade pricing will apply that is much higher.

Conclusion

Overall I don’t find the Tap Air Portugal Victoria program to be very attractive but that might be totally different for someone who flies a lot in Portugal and between Portgual and Spain. A lot of passengers also commute from the mainland to Madeira, one of my favorite Islands so it can definitely make sense to collect on TAP Victoria.

As far as this change is concerned I think overall the changes that were made this time around aren’t too negative. Especially the new tax/fee substitution will be very popular if the reception of this feature with Lufthansa Miles&More is any indicator.
