Hilton Honors has updated its Best Rate Guarantee program effective September 27, 2018 and changed the name to Price Match Guarantee.
You no longer need an advance reservation to process the match and same day reservations are also eligible.

The lower third party must meet the following:
A lower price you find on a booking channel that is NOT one of the official Hilton booking channels.**
Must be for the same accommodations and terms as your current booking through one of the official Hilton booking channels.**
Price must be without restriction, meaning that it is viewable and bookable by anyone.
Here’s what won’t qualify:
Nothing surprising here. I have requested clarification, however, from Hilton how much variability in terms is allowed. There was leeway in the past with the cancellation and payment terms. They didn’t need to match 100%.
Submitting the claim:
You may submit the online claim form up to 24 hours after your reservation is made.
- The name on the claim form must match the name on the reservation for each room.
- Only one claim may be submitted for each reservation.
- You will receive an e-mail confirmation or phone call within 24 hours after Hilton’s receipt of your claim.
Option 2 (Required for claims without a reservation confirmation number and for claims made the day before arrival or the day of arrival):
You may contact any of our contact center agents to submit the claim over the phone.
- If you are calling from the U.S., Canada, Puerto Rico or the U.S. Virgin Islands, call 1-800-445- 8667. Otherwise, contact the local reservations office for your region.
Previously, you could file the claim up to 24 hours before standard check in time (as long as it was still within 24 hours of making the the reservation).
Now, you can make claims even for same day arrivals but you need to phone them in. Also, claims that you make the day before scheduled check in date must be called in per the information on Hilton’s site.
It is certainly good that you can now call in the Price Match Guarantee and get it processed while they make the reservation. Guarantee was not previously available for same day arrivals but this has now changed as well.
Would be interested to learn how long it takes for reservation center associates to process one of these claims over the phone. I would rather do them using the online form but phone is certainly better option for prepaid and noncancelable rates. Now, you don’t have to gamble whether your claim is approved or not.
Marriott recently discontinued their Best Rate Guarantee program for same day claims while Hilton here just extended theirs and even allows even phone reps to process them (while Marriott reps are not even allowed to access outside internet).
