IHG Rewards Club Spire Elite Status Extension When Buying Ambassador Membership

It is the time of the year when some IHG Rewards Spire Elite members are feeling anxious that they may not requalify for the status next year. You need either 75 nights or 75,000 elite qualifying points to qualify.

IHG Rewards Club Spire Elite Ambassador.

IHG Rewards Club has unofficially allowed Spire Elite members to extend their status for years by merely signing up or renewing InterContinental Ambassador status without having to meet the qualification criteria.

You can access IHG’s page for Ambassador program here and elite benefits here.

Note that IHG Rewards Club may discontinue this option at their whim because it is not published benefit of the program.

InterContinental Ambassador Program

Ambassador program comes with meaningful benefits for those that stay at InterContinental hotels such as guaranteed upgrades, 4PM check out and welcome amenity.

Spire Elite members that renew their membership this way may not be eligible for the yearly bonus points or Platinum status gifting.

Conclusion

This is the last “unofficial” qualification/renewal option left with IHG Rewards Club and can come handy for some readers.

I would say that the Ambassador benefits alone are worth the price if someone stays more than couple of nights at InterContinental hotels yearly. Extending the Spire Elite status is just icing on the cake.
