British Airways Executive Club has launched a new Avios sale that comes at up to 50% bonus for purchases made through December 16, 2018. This offer is open for members in the US and UK.
British Airways has capped the number of Avios that one can purchase any calendar year before any bonuses at 100,000 that has been lifted during this sale to 200,000.

Conclusion
The maximum bonus during these sales has been 50% and the price of the Avios has been dependent where your account is based.
Buying Avios can make sense if you are able to use them for Reward Flight Savers with limited taxes/fees (my favorite option for travel between London and European cities) or you have a 2-4-1 redemption voucher and happen to be Gold Guest List member (much better availability). Perhaps you can throw in an upgrade voucher for two as well.
There are some partners that have very low or no fuel surcharges. Using Avios for those or short/medium-haul business class flights can be a good deal.
Considering that BA charges very high fuel surcharges on economy awards, it rarely makes sense to redeem for long-haul economy flights on their own metal (some exceptions as is always the case).
Here are the terms and conditions of this offer:
1. This offer is only open to Members of the British Airways Executive Club resident in the United Kingdom and the United States (Eligible Participants).
2. The offer is available from 00:01 (GMT) Monday 10 December to 23:59 (GMT) Sunday 16 December 2018 only (the ‘Offer Period’).
3. During the Offer Period, Eligible Participants will receive 50% extra Avios (bonus Avios) when they purchase or gift Avios at ba.com.
4. Avios can only be purchased at ba.com using the Purchase Avios Application Form found on offer page.
5. Eligible Participants may Gift Avios (purchase for someone else) during the promotional period, provided that the recipient holds a British Airways Executive Club account with at least one Avios point in their account.
6. The Bonus Avios will not count towards your promotional limit of 200,000 Avios.
7. This offer cannot be used in conjunction with any other Purchase Avios offer.
8. Purchased Avios can be refunded within 14 days of purchase providing the Avios have not been used. Contact the British Airways Executive Club via BA.com or by telephone to cancel. Payments will be reimbursed no later than 14 days after the date of which the Executive Club was informed about the decision to cancel.
