A LoyaltyLobby reader sent us an email about interesting stay posting at the recently opened Waldorf Astoria hotel in Bangkok.
You can access Waldorf Astoria Bangkok here.
Here’s the email from the reader:
I spent a night at Waldorf Astoria Bangkok for a night in Nov. I checked my account today and I got over 400,000 points for that day. I also got other 3 points activities which I don’t know where they’re coming from.
Are you aware of any mistake they made? Will I be able to use these points?
Hilton Honors changed to a new loyalty platform at the end of October (there have been many issues that still continue) that may have lead to this rather generous posting, although reader didn’t let us know what the revenue of the stays was.
The right thing to do would be to let Hilton Honors know that they may have done a mistake and request them to correct the stay. Considering the issues the program is facing, they may or may not be able to do it.
I would not go ahead and use the deposited points now. I would sit on them for a year at which point (pun intended) it is extremely unlikely that the stay would be corrected.
Some 10 years ago, I had one stay that posted with somewhat similar bonus (fewer overall points though) to my Hilton Honors account. I had to contact Hilton Honors to post the stay because it didn’t automatically at the time. The points were not later removed or stay corrected.
I was just in Bangkok and the rates for this hotel were still high but not $10K per night range.
