Fabulous Fridays: Hotels Going Beyond The Brand Requirement Case Four Points Bangkok Sukhumvit 15


This week the Fabulous Fridays deals with hotels that go above and beyond what is required by the brand when it comes to the elite treatment.

Fried of mine was staying at the Four Points hotel in Bangkok just before the New Years and I was glad to learn that they had brought back the elite benefits that were removed few years back.

Here are the benefits:


When this hotel first opened, Platinum members got complimentary happy hour at the Beer Vault (now Hooters) with some appetizers, breakfast and space available upgrades.

When GM changed, all these benefits were removed claiming that they cannot offer them because the need to stick to Four Points brand standards.

Now, seems that these extras are back but part of the “Business Room” or “Suite” package. I would assume that Platinum members would get an upgrade to a business room by default (standard room but with benefits?).

I have always said that hotels don’t succeed in ultra competitive markets like Bangkok by offering the bare minimum benefits mandated by the loyalty program. Even the Courtyard hotel in Bangkok has a lounge, provides suite upgrades for Platinum members and offers a breakfast in a restaurant.

Good to see that the Four Points hotel has reconsidered their earlier decisions, and are welcoming back Marriott’s elite members with their benefit package instead of bus tour package tourists.
