Hilton Honors made a decision last year to stop publishing award chart changes and the number of points that hotels require for a reward night can swing wildly.
Hilton has now, however, launched a new tool called Points Explorer that allows members to research the current maximum standard award price for any property and the lowest points price that Hilton has recently charged (when the rates are low awards are priced dynamically).
You can access Hilton’s Points Explorer here.
Note that the award prices available using this page are as of January 12, 2019.
Here’s the * that Hilton Honors has at the bottom of the page (always start with the small print):
Lowest Points per night that our members have booked at this hotel as of 01-12-2019. Current Points per night may vary. Maximum Points per night for a Standard Room as of 01-12-2019. Subject to change.
The small print means that when you search for hotels costing 45,000 points per night or less the tool will return all properties that have at some point in time had rooms available at that or lower price.
It is better to have this tool than not but you need to understand the major shortcoming that I have explored (pun intended) above. Also, Hilton Honors often changes award prices at a whim and these “tool” prices are only updated infrequently.
The tool also includes Hampton Inn hotels in China that became Hilton Honors participating in early January.
