Cathay Pacific lounge offerings at Hong Kong International Airport include 4 business class and 2 first class lounges, at different locations of the terminal. From all these offerings, The Pier is a travelers’ favorite both on their business class and their first class lounges.
I recently connected through HKG and I spent some quality time at The Pier. It had been a few years since my last visit to this lounge, so i was curious to know if the quality and luxury standards of this lounge were as good as I remembered from my previous visit.
The Pier first class is located near gate 63 in pTerminal 1. It can be quite a hike if your incoming flight parks near gates 1-5, but it’s totally worth it!. The lounge is open every day from 05:30 to 00:30H, and it welcomes first class passengers and One World emerald members.
The check-in desk was fully staffed when I got into the lounge. The agents were more than friendly and when I asked for the possibility of a shower and/or a massage, they quickly escorted me to the spa area.
The lounge lobby area is a wide corridor that connects the bar, lounge, spa and dining areas.
The spa & showers
Spa treatments were not available for my time frame (my connection was too short), but I was in dire need of a shower after a long work day. The shower space was ample and it offered all the amenities you could need. One of the things I love the most about Cathay Pacific is their partnership with Aesop, and this shower had all the Aesop toiletries and skin treatments you could need and then some more. A rain shower, hair dryer and enough towels completed the set up.
The bar & lounge area
It was a slow night for the bar when I got there. There were just a few patrons around. As always, their drinks offering was excellent, with their mixologist willing to please you with any cocktail of your liking. I opted for the Henriot Brut Rose (no need to mix that!).
The sitting & lounge area around the bar is spacious, and it felt even more spacious because of the few patrons around. All seating offer power and internet hard line connectivity, but beware of the plugs! In case you don’t have an adapter, the lounge staff will provide one for you to use.
The dining room
My favorite feature from this lounge is their dining room. Their a la carte offering is always top notch, combined with the excellent drink list and a good mixologist that rocks every cocktail. This was the menu for that day:
I decided to go for the chili prawns and tofu for starters, and I had the wagyu beef burger as my main course, all accompanied by an Asian mojito. The mango & pomelo sago with a glass of their 20-year tawny port wine closed my dinner that night.
The Pier First Class is (undoubtfully) my favorite lounge at Hong Kong International airport. Their food & beverages offering is solid, and their service is top notch. Can’t wait to go back!
