Something fishy has been going on with the award availability at the Waldorf Astoria Maldives Ithaafushi that is scheduled to open on July 1, 2019.
The reservations for this property were opened while back and award rates loaded earlier this month. I made two reservations each for five nights for November this year (read more here) and plan to use both.
You can access Waldorf Astoria Maldives Ithaafushi’s website here.
Several readers alerted us last week that there was no standard award availability for any date at this property.
I checked the situation and there was only Premium Room awards at 655K per night instead of the standard award of 120,000 points. I also dropped an email to Hilton spokesperson to find out what was going on. Screenshot available above is from last week.
Seems that the “issue” has now been resolved:
The hotel is again available using Hilton Honors points and the availability is generally good except around the Christmas and New Years holidays.
I would encourage readers to take advantage of this generous award availability at the Waldorf Astoria Ithaafushi if you have planned to do a Maldives trip rather sooner than later. It is unlikely that this will last considering the accommodation and general price level of the property.
The hotel can easily limit the number of standard rooms by making some of them “view”, “super” deluxe or any other trick that hotels continually use.
I guess that the property got flooded with the award reservations first and didn’t quite know how to react, considering that the General Manager came outside of Hilton.
