Turkish Airlines offers status matches into its Miles&Smiles frequent flier program from competing airlines.
A LoyaltyLobby reader dropped us an email about updated alliances, airlines and statuses that Turkish Airlines matches in 2019.
Here’s the email from the reader:
I tried to get a Tk status match using my Qatar (one world) Gold / Sapphire membership .. it was rejected
below you will see the list of membership programs and status levels they will match.
Here’s the email from Turkish:
Thank you for your feedback with number TK-REMOVED
Miles&Smiles members who also have membership with the Skyteam (Elite Plus), One World (Emerald), Emirates (Gold – Platinum), Etihad (Gold – Platinum), El Al Israil Airlines (Platinum – Top Platinum), Finnair (Plus Gold), Oman Air (Sinbad Gold) are eligible to status match for Elite membership.
We do not have Elite Plus or Classic Plus Status Match application.
Therefore, we unfortunately cannot satisfy your demand under the Miles&Smiles program rules.
For your Miles&Smiles membership transactions and other questions, you can access the Call Center serving 24/7 through the phone number 444 0 THY (849) or obtain information from the website https://www.turkishairlines.com/en-int/any-questions/get-in-touch/index.html.

Turkish Airlines matched programs:
- Skyteam (Elite Plus)
- One World (Emerald)
- Emirates (Gold – Platinum)
- Etihad (Gold – Platinum)
- El Al Israil Airlines (Platinum – Top Platinum)
- Finnair (Plus Gold)
- Oman Air (Sinbad Gold)
It makes sense that they no longer allow matches like previously from other Star Alliance airlines. Why would they try to poach fliers from friendly alliance airlines?
It is interesting, however, that they only match four airlines (Emirates, Etihad, Oman and El Al) outside of SkyTeam and Oneworld alliances. Also, Turkish matches Finnair Gold that is only Oneworld Sapphire (only airline within SkyTeam and Oneworld with an exception).
