Hyatt made an announcement back on October 8, 2018 (read more here) that it had reached an agreement to acquire Two Roads Hospitality (Alila, Joie de Vivre, Thompson and Destination Hotels) and its 85 or so hotels.
Today World of Hyatt announced that Thompson Hotels would become program participating on March 28 and Joie de Vivre on May 15. Alila and Destination Hotels don’t have a firm integration date yet. Sixty or so hotels are joining Hyatt and the rest decided to stay independent and reflag (roughly third).
You can access Hyatt’s page for the announcement here.
World of Hyatt members can earn 2,000 bonus points for the first stay at each of these four brands (check hotel’s World of Hyatt participation). Also, members can earn category 1 – 4 free night awards for staying at least once at each of these four brands by December 31, 2019. No registration is required for these two offers.
This is relatively fast integration of these Two Roads Hospitality’s brands into the World of Hyatt. It is sad that one third/quarter of the hotels have decided to opt out, leave or reflag after the purchase was announced.
It is always good to have more hotels where one can earn and burn World of Hyatt points while collecting eligible nights.
