Hilton Status Levels About To Drop – Hilton Honors Gold & Diamond Status Match Is Still Available!

Hilton Honors continues to offer Gold and Diamond status match program in 2019 with successfully completed matches being valid through March 2020.

If your status is going to drop next week this could be a way to quickly get back up to speed, however there are arguments why it could be worth to wait a little with your request.

You can access Hilton’s page for status related benefits here and the match page here.

Every year Hilton status levels will expire on March 31st which sets the chain apart from the competition, most of which runs their status until February.

If you’re one of the unlucky fellas whose status will drop you might want to consider the option of a new status match from another program in case you maintain elite tiers there.

The Hilton status match promotion requires 4 stays in 90 days to retain Gold or 8 stays for Diamond and the status will already be valid during the trial period.

Here are the two match options:

Hilton Honors matches your competing status to Gold or Diamond and you then have to do either 4 or 8 stays to extend the status through March 2020.

The 2020 language was added in June of 2018 and it might be possible that Hilton will update the terms again (matching until 2021) around June of this year. Therefore it might be worth waiting to apply for a while if you don’t need the status immediately.

Hilton Honors does matches from Choice Privileges, World of Hyatt, IHG Rewards Club, Marriott Rewards and Starwood Preferred Guest. They do mention that other programs would be eligible as well:

You must send a copy of your membership card which can be a screenshot or alternatively your most recent account activity (screenshot as well) and proof of a stay at a hotel within the past 12 months (such as a hotel bill – take a picture).

I remember when I applied in late 2017 I couldn’t upload a pdf and they only accepted jpeg files so you might need to convert your screenshot file type.

Once you have uploaded the info, you should hear back from Hilton Honors within a couple of days. The Gold or Diamond status is valid for 90 days and the expiry date is shown on the email. You then need to do the 4 or 8 stays (STAYS not NIGHTS) to keep it.

A few months after I matched I got the following unsolicited email from Hilton saying they would extend my Diamond match validity until March 2020 (mind you I matched in December 2017).

That was a pretty amazing match value, essentially getting 2.5 years worth of Hilton Diamond status for completing my 8 stays. Not sure if something like this will be forthcoming again but at the moment the match is advertised to be valid for one year only.

John has also written about the option to extend your Diamond status for another year under certain conditions if you weren’t able to fulfill the requirements last year (2018).

There are several Gold fast track offers requiring just 3-4 stays over 90 days that we have covered comprehensively on LoyaltyLobby such as this one here. These don’t advance the Gold or Diamond status up front though like this match does.

It’s excellent that Hilton continues to offer status matches and it shouldn’t be too difficult to fulfill the 8 stay requirement over three months. As mentioned I’d personally wait until June or so to see if Hilton will extend the match validity for another year.
