Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan Icelandair Award Chart Changes April 15, 2019

Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan is making adjustments for Icelandair awards to Iceland and Europe effective April 15, 2019.

Mileage Plan members will pay more for economy class redemptions. This change won’t affect business class flights.

Note that there is a carrier imposed surcharge of $150 to $300 for every Icelandair flight award (one-way).

The number of Mileage Plan miles required for these two destinations go up by 7,500 miles.

Conclusion

It is a rather immaterial change but these Icelandair awards make very little sense, especially in economy considering the high carrier charges and paid economy ticket prices across the Atlantic.
