Just had a similar experience last week but with a reverse outcome to
Hilton Hurghada Plaza Reopening Delayed
We were booked to stay at “The London NYC” for 5 nights last week on a paid booking. A week before arriving “The London NYC” emailed me telling me their reconstruction is delayed and they are unable to honor my reservation but have made a reservation for me across the street at the Hilton Midtown for all 5 nights. At first a bit disappointed since the London is a suite hotel and I was being moved to a nice hotel but in a standard room. The next sentence however more than made up for the small inconvenience: “We are refunding your purchase AND The London NYC will be covering your full room and tax for 5 night (you will have 5 night complimentary at our partner hotel).”
So my family enjoyed a 5 night stay in NYC for free. I am a Diamond member but this was well above what I would have expected especially without even asking.
The London NYC is going through renovations at the moment before becoming a Conrad sometime this summer.
There is a note on Hilton’s website that during the refurbishment work that some floors are closed. This is probably the reason why London NYC has been forced to relocate guests to other properties.
Glad that the hotel in this reader’s case made things right and comped the stay entirely.
