Eight Design Hotels In Portugal Heading To Marriott Bonvoy Exit

Marriott inherited Design Hotels brand when it acquired Starwood. These hotels are more loosely affiliated with the loyalty program if at all (not all of them are).

Furnas Design Hotels

It seem that there is something going on in Portugal as eight of the nine Design Hotels appear to be out of loyalty program participation. It is unclear whether these will exit the Design Hotels brand as well.

You can access Marriott’s page for Design Hotels here.

Here are the hotels:

Prai Verde Boutique Hotel

Last date for any availability is May 13, 2019.

Furnas Boutique Hotel

Last date for any availability is May 13, 2019.

Altis Belem Hotels

Last date for any availability is December 27, 2019.

Vila Monte Moncarapacho

Last date for any availability is May 25, 2019.

Torre De Palma Wine Hotel

Last date for any availability is December 30, 2019.

Azor Hotel

Last date for any availability is May 13, 2019.

Santiago Hotel Cooking & Nature

Last date for any availability is May 13, 2019.

Villa C Boutique Hotel

Last date for any availability is May 15, 2019

The following one Design Hotel has availability through the end of the calendar:

Memmo Pricipe Real

Conclusion

It could be that the operator of these eight hotels felt that the combined loyalty program doesn’t benefit them the same way as the SPG did. Some of the these hotels have already emailed Marriott Bonvoy members letting them know about the exit.

I have stayed at one of the above mentioned hotels in Furnas where I received the above amenity. Sad to see these hotels leaving the Marriott Bonvoy.
