Marriott International issued a corporate statement today on the health of Marriott CEO and President Arne Sorenson.
After extensive testing at John Hopkins in Baltimore, Maryland, Mr. Sorenson was confirmed to have stage 2 pancreatic cancer but will continue in his role while undergoing treatment.
You can read the official statement from Marriott here. The following is an excerpt from the release:
In a message to Marriott International associates, Sorenson noted: “The cancer was discovered early. It does not appear to have spread and the medical team – and I – are confident that we can realistically aim for a complete cure. In the meantime, I intend to continue working at the company I love. Let me make one request, look ahead with me. We have great work underway at Marriott. I am as excited by what we can accomplish together as I have ever been.”
Despite the diagnosis, Mr. Sorenson’s determination to stay on with his duties while undergoing treatment is a testament to his dedication to Marriott. All of the LoyaltyLobby staff wish Mr. Sorenson a full and speedy recovery.
