Aeroflot SU1492 Moscow – Murmansk Incident

Aeroflot flight SU1492 operated using Sukhoi Superjet 100 from Moscow to Murmansk (SVO-MMK) had technical issue right after take off and had to return to the airport.

It seems that everything didn’t go as planned because aircraft caught fire after evacuation begun. There are casualties, although number is not known at this time.

Here’s an excerpt from the BBC (access their piece here):

The aircraft is reportedly a Sukhoi Superjet-100, and was scheduled to depart at 17:50 local time (14:50 GMT) for the city of Murmansk.

The Interfax news agency reports the crew issued a distress signal shortly after departure from Moscow’s Sheremetyevo airport.

Reports also suggest it did not succeed in its first emergency landing attempt.

Data from tracking website Flightradar24 appears to confirm reports the emergency landing happened about 30 minutes after take-off.

Let’s hope that the number of casualties stays low. The photos posted on the social media of the fire are intense and you can still see people running away from the aircraft.
