American Airlines Pilot Charged With Triple Murder – Flight Delayed By Three Hours

Passengers on American Airlines flight AA5523 on Saturday from Louisville to Charlotte probably weren’t aware of that their three hour delay was due to pilot having arrested for a triple murder.

AA5523

American Airlines flight AA5523 is operated by PSA, which is a wholly owned subsidiary of American Airlines Group.

Here’s an excerpt from NBC News (access their piece here):

An airline pilot was arrested Saturday at Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport after he was charged in the 2015 murders of three people.

A Christian County, Kentucky, grand jury charged Christian Richard Martin with three counts of murder, one of arson, one of attempted arson, burglary in the first degree and three counts of tampering with physical evidence. The indictment was unsealed Saturday after Martin’s arrest.

Kentucky Attorney General Andy Beshear said Saturday that Martin was responsible for the 2015 murders of Calvin and Pamela Phillips and their neighbor Edward Dansereau.

Conclusion

American Airlines has put this pilot on “administrative suspension”. Obviously, the pilot is considered innocent until proven guilty at court.

Wonder if the replacement captain made an announcement about what the reason was for the delay? Could have been rather awkward moment inside the plane. Is American Airlines giving some miles for the inconvenience?
