American Express (U.S.) Adds Qantas Frequent Flyer As New Membership Rewards Transfer Partner

American Express customers with cards issued in the U.S. can now transfer their Membership Rewards to Qantas Frequent Flyer in 500 point increments.

The new partnership has already been activated and transfers will be processed on the Amex website in the Account / Membership Rewards section.

Transferring Membership Rewards points from Amex to Qantas Frequent Flyer is possible 1:1 in increments of 500, which might be useful depending on the exact amount needed to be transferred.

You can find the transfer option in your online Amex card account under Membership Rewards – Airline Transfers :

Here are the Qantas Award Charts for Classic Awards and there are some sweet spots in there:

Short haul flights are very attractive on this distance based award chart and Emirates First class is particularly interesting.

You have to look closer at the chart and add up the mileage of your desired city pairing. There might be a great surprise in terms of redemption value.

Memberships Rewards keeps adding new partners to their portfolio (at least in the U.S.) which is good for members who want to use their points currency from credit card spend in a flexible way.

I like the transfer bonus promotions which we regularly cover here on LoyaltyLobby. Those provide a significant value considering the bonus is sometimes up to 50% (like they have it sometimes with British Airways).
