United Airlines ceased to accept Singapore Airlines award reservations on its website effective January 15, 2019 (read more here and here) blaming technical “difficulties” (perhaps not willing to pay for the award space) and not for the first time.
Now, MileagePlus members are again able to book these awards on regular search on United.com. These were already bookable previously over the phone but how many like to waste their time by calling the airline?

I am glad that MileagePlus members can again book these awards on United’s website without having to call them in and often speak with misinformed agents.
Without a doubt this “technical difficulty” was purely United’s unwillingness to pay for the award space on Singapore Airlines because other Star Alliance airlines weren’t experiencing it.
