IHG Rewards Club Devaluation Continues: New 75,000 & 100,000 Points Per Night Categories

IHG Rewards Club has quietly introduced new award categories that require 75,000 or 100,000 points per night.

There are at two InterContinental Alliance Resorts in Macau that despite their rates of less than $200 per night require 75,000 points and the new InterContinental in Maldives that goes for 100,000 per night

Does anybody else remember the times when top tier hotels required 30,000 points per night and IHG had never ending flow of open and targeted promotions that allowed members to earn free nights fast?

I am sure that there are periods when these two hotels in Macao command higher rates but charging 75,000 points for a hotel room that goes for $160 plus 15% in tax/fees is just plain ridiculous. The 100,000 points per night in Maldives is somewhat more palatable considering their nightly rates.

How long do you believe it takes for some of those 70,000 per night hotels to move somewhere between 75,000 and 100,000 points per night? I am also sure that we will see some even higher surprises when the Six Senses is integrated into the program.
