Unite, the union representing Heathrow employees, made an announcement late on Sunday that due to on-going talks with the airport management the strike scheduled for Monday has been suspended.
The second day of the strike is still scheduled for Tuesday (August 6, 2019), unless parties can reach an agreement on Monday.
Here’s the announcement from Unite:
Strikes in Europe are often averted at the last minute but this one was cutting it very close as airlines had already started to cancel their flights and move some to Gatwick instead.
Let’s hope that parties can reach an agreement on Monday so that the second day of the strike can be suspended as well.
