A LoyaltyLobby reader sent us a question about Marriott Bonvoy member Food & Beverage discounts in Asia-Pacific
Here’s the question from the reader:
I am an SPG/Marriot/Bonvoy member for several years now.
I recently went for dinner at the Courtyard Marriot in Madurai with a large group.
On presentation of the loyalty card I was told I am eligible only for a 10% savings.
Please advise what savings I can get on food and beverage at the different tiers and does it differ by location and chain ?
Marriott Bonvoy continues to offer Restaurants + Bars benefits at participating hotels and outlets in Asia-Pacific.
Here’s the discount schedule:
- 10% non-members & Silver Elite
- 15% Gold Elite
- 20% Platinum, Titanium & Ambassador
You should always check the website to see if the specific outlet is participating as you can never be certain. Also, sometimes specials such as New Years Eve-dinner are not eligible for discount.
Discount in Greater China (China, Hong Kong, Taiwan & Macau)
Members here, regardless of their Marriott Bonvoy status, get 30% discount that is quite generous.
Marriott and SPG both used to have paid Dining Clubs in Asia-Pacific (not sure if they still do) that usually discounted the food portion by 50% (required two people dining together). These often came with accommodation and other vouchers making them a decent deal for someone who dines at hotels.
You can often save on hotel F&B by using local discount apps (varies from market to market) that offer 30%+ discounts on buffets and set dinners.
These discounts that Marriott offers for Bonvoy members are good to keep in mind and to make sure that they are correctly applied at participating locations.
