Many hotel chains have offered guests points, credits or plant trees (Accor) in case of declining housekeeping for a night or two.
It seems like IHG is now making this more formal initiate in Europe that allows members to earn 500 bonus points per night.
You can access this offer on IHG’s website here.
The Greener Stay is available for members that stay at Holiday Inn Express, Holiday Inn and Crowne Plaza hotels in Europe minimum of two nights. You can skip the housekeeping for up to five days.
Note that some IHG hotels outside of Europe are offering similar bonus.
Some guests don’t like hotel employees entering their rooms and hang out the Do Not Disturb-sign outside for the duration of their stay. This allows earning some bonus points in the process.
I do value daily housekeeping more than $2.50 worth of points, however.
Here are the terms and conditions of this promotion:
1. Greener Stay is only avalible at participating Holiday Inn Express ® Hotels, Holiday Inn ® Hotels and Crowne Plaza ® Hotels & Resorts in Europe.
2. Only available for IHG® Rewards Club members who stay longer than two nights and opt out of house keeping at participating hotels.
3. As per the brand standard, the room must be cleaned automatically after four consecutive nights, which means that the guest will not receive Greener Stay bonus points on the fifth consecutive day.
