American Airlines Buy & Gift AAdvantage Miles Up To 42,500 Bonus + 10% Off Through October 8, 2019

American Airlines has launched a new offer to purchase AAdvantage miles at up to 42,500 bonus + 10% off through October 8, 2019.

American Airlines a while back upped the number of miles that you can buy before any bonuses to 150,000 every calendar year. The account that buys or receives the miles must have been open for minimum of 30 days.

Note that the bonus maxes at 100,000 purchased miles under this offer.

The price of a mile purchased under this offer at the 100,000 miles level (to maximize the bonus ) is 2.02 cents each. The lowest price that American has sold its miles in 2017 and 2018 has been 1.72 cents each.

Conclusion

The price is much higher than during the recent sales AA has run. Unless you need miles right now, I would wait for a better offer to surface in due course.

    What is the Transfer Miles program and how does it work?

    What is the difference between the Transfer Miles program and the Gift Miles program? ?

    With the Transfer Miles program, a member transfers miles that were already earned in the member’s account to another member’s account. With the Gift Miles program, a member purchases new miles that are deposited into another member’s account. In a Transfer Miles transaction, miles will be deducted from the transactor’s account and deposited into the recipient’s account. In a Gift Miles transaction, no miles are deducted from the transactor’s account.

    Does the member transferring miles have to be related to the member receiving the miles?

    No, miles may be transferred into any account as long as neither the transactor, nor the recipient has exceeded the 200,000 mile maximum per calendar year.
