Qatar Airways Privilege Club has watered down the frequent flyer program benefits for years and, now for the very first time, actually introduces some benefits useful for its top tier frequent flyers.
Privilege Club Platinum members traveling in business are now eligible to access Qatar’s real first-class lounge Al Safwa and can earn bonus Qcredits.
You can access Qatar’s page for these enhancements here:
Al Safwa lounge has been only accessible for first-class passengers and those willing to fork cash to access it when flying in business. Now, Privilege Club Platinum members also have access, but only when traveling in a premium cabin.
Privilege Club members will earn ten bonus Qcredits for every 100 Qpoints earned in above 600. Members can use Qcredits for upgrades.
Finally, some positive changes to Qatar Airways Privilege Club that was almost decimated by the number of “enhancements” such as doubling/tripling the number of miles required for awards and making partner reward bookings extremely cumbersome.
Let’s hope that they have other positive changes coming to the Privilege Club. It still makes more sense to credit Qatar Airways flights to other frequent flier programs, unless you have possibly use for Qcredits that are required to upgrade flights.
