Welcome to our weekly video review on hotel suites and rooms around the world! This week’s edition features a 75 m2 1-bedroom king grandluxe suite at The Westin Excelsior, Rome.
The Westin Excelsior is the most iconic grand luxury hotel in Rome. Located in the heart of Via Veneto and surrounded by high end shops and exclusive restaurants, it’s been the playground for the Italian elites and the international Jet Set for decades. Fellini uses it as a backdrop for his masterpiece “La Dolce Vita”, immortalizing the glamorous Roman lifestyle of the 1950s.
The Hotel Excelsior opened its doors in 1908. At that time Via Veneto was a low-key, suburban street that connected the city with the countryside. The success of the hotel during the post WWI years transformed the area, attracting more fashionable businesses, ultimately becoming the city’s “it” place.
Nowadays the Westin Excelsior continues to keep the refined atmosphere of the 1950s alive by unapologetically offering old school luxury: the hotel grand lounges and rooms are decorated on 19th century Empire style.

Here is our video review and commentary on this suite:
Great room, especially if you get upgraded to it! This suite sells for 700€ or more, depending on the season. This property is a Category 6, requiring 40 to 60k Bonvoy points per night. Using the 5th night free perk you can lower the points price down to 32k per night, which is a good deal considering standard rooms sell north of 250€/night.
In case you missed it!
