Aegean is a Star Alliance member airline based in Greece that has Miles+Bonus frequent flier program that is popular among European based members for rather easy Star Gold initial qualification and even easier requalification.

Miles+Bonus has now amended the number of miles required for select Star Alliance awards without any prior notification.

The changes affect awards between Europe & North Africa and Near East & Central Asia, Far East and North America, and the Far East to the Far East.

Conclusion

Unfortunately, programs believe that it is ok to change the number of points or miles required for awards without any advance notice to program members. As I have said it before and will say again in the future, this doesn’t build trust.

The changes, however, weren’t too drastic this time. I believe that these are mostly the awards that Miles+Bonus members redeem.
