Air Canada Altitude Program In 2020 (Aeroplan’s Fate Still Unclear)

Air Canada has released a beneficial PDF that lays out the benefits and requirements for each Altitude (status) levels.

Air Canada Altitude 2020

The PDF still offers no more information about what will come of the Aeroplan program in 2020 that is used to earn and redeem miles. Altitude program is only elite recognition one.

You can access Air Canada’s website here.

Here’s the PDF of the benefits:

You may recall that in January 2019, Air Canada acquired Aeroplan as part of its efforts to deliver a best in class loyalty program to you. Next year, Aeroplan will improve with new benefits and status qualification options – in addition to the more flexible reward ticket and refund features that we’ve already introduced. Stay tuned for further updates and details of what’s to come in 2020. Learn more

You can reach Air Canada Altitude status based on the number of Altitude Qualifying Miles or Altitude Qualifying Segments earned on eligible flights operated by Air Canada, Air Canada Express, Air Canada Rouge and Star Alliance member airlines between January 1 and December 31, 2020.

Note that you will also need to complete the Altitude Qualifying Dollar (AQD) requirement. Following the conclusion of the qualification period, your status will be valid for the next benefit year after you have been invited to choose your Select Privileges.

Not sure if there have been any major changes as I am not personally vested in this program (unlike with many other Star Alliance ones). The various status requirements and benefits look very straightforward on this presentation.

It is unclear what Air Canada’s plans are in regards to Aeroplan. They communicated earlier that they would be launching a new program before the purchase of Aeroplan from Aimia. It is only 20 days to 2020 and no information?
