SPG launched Suite Night Awards (SNA’s) in the early 2010’s and Marriott Bonvoy introduced them to the combined program in 2018.
Members can choose SNA as their Choice Elite-benefit (read more here) when staying 50 and 75 nights with affiliated hotels every calendar year.,
You can access Marriott’s page for Suite Night Awards here.
Readers have voiced issues trying to apply SNA’s towards their Marriott reservations. You cannot use them against non-cancelable reservations (there is a workaround – read more here), and hotels often don’t confirm them even when they have suite inventory available. You may receive a suite upgrade when their SNA has been denied (confusing – right?).
The issue that readers have is that all SNA’s earned in 2018 that are not used by today expire. They don’t roll over.
How many SNA’s you were able to use in 2019, where and how many you may have expiring?
Even back in the Starwood times, I always chose the free award night (when this option became available). Now, Marriott Bonvoy has removed this option at 50 nights, but it is still available at 75.
I am not sure why so many members have trouble using them? You could theoretically keep applying them to all eligible reservation and hope for the best. Most likely try to apply them to stays at luxury properties such as St. Regis instead of burning them at Courtyards.
