Finnair & Helsinki Possible Flight Disruptions February 10 – 24, 2020

There is a potential strike activity taking place in Finland between February 10 – 14, 2020, that would affect fuel supply at the Helsinki – Vantaa Airport (HEL).

Airlines from nearby countries could carry extra, so no refueling in Helsinki would be needed. This strike, however, would result in canceling the majority of Finnair’s flights.

You can access Finnair here.

If the strike begins, Finnair is required by law (EC 261/2004) to rebook affected passengers to their final destinations, even if this requires moving them to competing airlines such as Lufthansa, Emirates, or Air France.

The airline is also required to provide Duty to Care (hotel accommodation and meals) in case of long delays.

I would say that it is more likely than not that this labor dispute of which Finnair has no control over will be resolved by February 10. You should, however, keep in mind that it may start and have alternate plans in place.
