American Airlines Buy & Gift AAdvantage Miles Bonus + Discount Though March 6, 2020

American Airlines has launched a new offer to buy AAdvantage miles with a combined bonus + discount through March 6, 2020.

The number of miles a member can buy before any bonuses is 150,000 per calendar year and the account that purchases or receives the miles must have been open for a minimum of 30 days.

The price of a mile purchased under this offer at the 150,000 miles level (232,500 with bonus) is 1.86 US cents each. The lowest price that American has sold its miles in previous years has been around 1.72 US cents each.

Conclusion

American Airlines sells its AAdvantage miles at a discount monthly, and it seems that this 1.86 US cents per mile is their regular price.

It is difficult to get excited about buying AA miles at this price. I would take a pass unless you need some right now and have a worthwhile redemption on hold.
