Both Australia and New Zealand are the next two countries that are closing their borders from non-residents and immediate family members. New Zealand ban started at midnight on Thursday, and Australia is sealing its border from 9 PM local time on Friday.
Qantas and Jetstar are suspending all international flights while most domestic flights are canceled. The airline intends to operate some international flights in cooperation with the Australian government.
Virgin Australia has canceled all international flights until mid-June and trimmed domestic schedule by 50%. Air New Zealand has been cutting international flights, and I would assume that they all end besides perhaps some trans-Tasmanian and Pacific Islands flights.
Australia already had mandatory self-isolation in place for all arrivals, while New Zealand required self-quarantine only from arrivals that had flu symptoms.
These entry bans don’t have much of an effect because nationals and residents are allowed to return as they should, and surely visitor numbers must be close to zero.
