India Closes Airports For International Flights March 22 – 29, 2020

India is taking some drastic actions trying to prevent coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic taking hold in the country, and closing its airports for all international flights for a week.

Airlines destined to India are not allowed to take off after 0530 IST March 22 until 0530 IST on March 29, 2020.

Here’s the announcement from India:

Conclusion

India had already earlier revoked most visas from foreign nationals trying to enter the country. This flight ban merely affects Indians trying to return or leave their home country.

Perhaps the rising level of cases in the Gulf countries that rely on cheap labor from India and other nearby countries is the main reason for this temporary suspension.
