Hilton Honors announced on Chinese social media back in February (read more here) that they would extend status and points expiry for members in Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan due to the global coronavirus pandemic.
The emails from Hilton have gone out today, officially announcing this to all eligible members.
You can access the Hilton page for coronavirus here.
Here’s a copy of the email that Hilton sent out:
Here’s the same in text format:
Hilton has been closely monitoring the situation of the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) Outbreak. To support those Hilton Honor members in the Chinese Mainland, Macau, Hong Kong and Taiwan whose travel plans have been affected by the epidemic, Hilton Honors has extended your member benefits.
Here are some of the benefits you’ll continue to enjoy:
You will have your elite membership status extended to March 31, 2022.
None of your Hilton Honors points will expire from now until December 31, 2020.
For questions or inquiries, please contact Hilton through WeChat account (希尔顿Hilton), or call Hilton Honors Customer Care Center (The Chinese mainland, Macau, Hong Kong and Taiwan: 400-820-8091, Overseas: +86-21-23268601).
Hilton also extended status for select members in North America without any announcement!
Hilton Honors has here taken the right step for members that were first affected by this worldwide pandemic and whose countries are slowly getting back to the new normal.
I would assume that it is very likely that Hilton will extend member tiers in other markets as well one the peak of the outbreak is over.
