British Airways Executive Club has been slow at responding to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic on the loyalty program side.
The airline is lowering qualification requirement by 30% for those whose tier point collection year ends in April, May, and June. Also, expiring certificates are extended by six months.

British Airways needs to come up with a blanket policy for extending expiring member tiers at least by 12 months. Many are grounded for an indefinite period with no upcoming travel booked at all.
The majority of programs are applying blanket 12-month extension to member tiers. This 30% reduction assumes that one’s travel is constant throughout the year that is not always the case.
