Emirates that is in the process of restarting some flight activity next week (read more here) after the UAE government decided to close the country’s airports (read more here) has now come up with relaxed Skywards policies.
Members can qualify on 80% of the usual tier requirements, tier and miles expiry has been pushed back to December 31, 2020.
You can access Emirates Skywards here.
Reduced Requirement:
You need 80% of your usual tier requirement to requalify.
Tier Status Extension:
Members whose tiers would expect between now and the end of the year have automatically extended through December 31, 2020.
Extended Miles Validity:
Miles validity for all accounts has been extended to December 31, 2020.
Conclusion
The tier extension and retention requirements are incredibly lacking and will result in exodus among the program’s elite members.
Much of the world is grounded and/or plagued with all sorts of entry, transit, and travel bans making international flying close to impossible.
Emirates Skywards should have just extended every member’s tier by 12 months and wrote off 2020.
