The airline became member-elect back in December 2018 (read more here), and the exact joining date was confirmed this past January (read more here).

You can access Royal Air Maroc here.

Royal Air Maroc’s Route Map:

The airline gives Oneworld access to many destinations in North, Central, and Western Africa that are not reachable using other alliance members.

American Airlines Royal Air Maroc AAvantage earnings:

AAdvantage members earn elite bonus for Royal Air Maroc flights. Awards on Royal Air Maroc, however, are not bookable online; you must call them in.

British Airways Royal Air Maroc Avios earnings:

You don’t earn elite bonus miles on Royal Air Maroc flights.

They are, however, bookable using the online award search.

Conclusion

This must be the worst possible timing for joining an alliance when most airlines have grounded their entire fleets due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Oneworld tends to have quite elaborate event when member officially joins like what took place with Sri Lankan and Qatar Airways, and there is usually a bonus miles campaign too.

I guess that Oneworld will hold an event to celebrate Royal Air Maroc’s joining sometime in 2021. We’ll see what alliance members are still solvent then.
